First Aid kits turned into crayon box and teacher supplies

I am trying very hard to go green. I find at times it is very hard to do with 4 kids. Most of the time I have been lucky if I was able to get things into the recycling bin. I am on a mission to do as much as I possibly can to go green. This is my first project I turned these old first aid kit containers into carrying cases for crayons that my 3 yr old can take to church and other places he needs to be entertainded. A teacher supplies box filled with crayons magnets and chalk (Sunday school). It was fun and very easy.

Fun Summer Flip Flops

Gather your supplies

1/4 wooden dowels
clothing pins
hair clips
glue gun
plastic flip flops
needle
fishing line

If you want to use wider or narrower ribbon. You may want to experiment with different size dowels.

Secure your ribbon to one end of the dowel with a clothes pin. Wrap it in a spiral until the entire dowel is covered. Secure the other end with a second pin.

The more ribbon you curl the fuller your bow will be. Continue wrapping dowels till you have several. I cut my dowels in half, they where easier to fit in the oven that way. Set them on a cookie sheet and bake at 250degrees for about twenty minutes. Let them cool completely.

Pull of the pins and gently unwrap your ribbon.

Cut the ribbons to desired length. Depending on ribbon you may want to seal the ends to prevent fraying. Center your bundle of ribbon on twelve inches of fishing line and tie, secure a good knot. Wrap it around a couple more times and tie again.

Glue your bundle to a hair clip or sew it onto a pair of flip flops with the fishing line.

Now go make a little girl happy.

ek Success

I was in need of a new circle cutter. When I went to Micheal's I picked out 3 different cutters, Martha Stewart, Fiscars and ek Success. Obviously I bought the ek success and I love it. It makes perfect circles in second and is easy to use. My children where also able to use it with ease. The blade is not accessible until you are ready to cut so it is very child safe.
